1.
INTRODUCTION
Contentment is great virtue to have. It
is one of the important Universal Values that every one should have in
their present state, no matter how poor, or what their condition may
be. When a person is content he will not only be satisfied just the
way he is, and therefore will not grumble or complain about anything, but
be thankful and grateful for the all the good things he has been blessed
with. This is possible only when we know or hear about the less
fortunate ones, in terms of health, wealth, handicaps, living conditions
or situations they may be in. For example many are born with some
physical or mental problems or limitations, not to speak of other kinds of
unfortunate situations they may be in for no fault of theirs.
2.
WHAT IS CONTENTMENT?
-
Contentment
is being satisfied about just the way things are in our life
-
Contentment
is not complaining about problems and limitations that we may have now in
life
-
Contentment
is having peace and joy for all the good things we have, regardless of
the problems we have
-
Contentment
is being grateful for the blessings that we have in our present state
-
Contentment
is being grateful for what we are blessed with
-
Contentment
is not grumbling for what we do not have
-
Contentment
is being thankful for not having the problems, limitations and
discomforts that others have
-
Contentment
is being satisfied with what we have and just the way we are, in spite
of the fact that we may have problems to complain about a lot of things in life
-
Contentment
is being happy about just the way everything is in our life
-
Contentment
is having peace at all times regardless of our state of affairs or
conditions in life
3. WHY
SHOULD WE BE CONTENT?
-
Because we
all have something to be thankful for
-
Because we
all have something to be proud of
-
Because we
all have something to enjoy life
-
Because we
all have something, which many others may not have
-
Because we
all have life and many blessings and opportunities, even though we may
have many needs, limitations and problems
-
Because we
are in a better position than many others
-
Because we
could be possibly in a worse situation than our current situation
-
Because we
are more fortunate than many others
-
Because we
have more reasons to be thankful
-
Because we
are able to enjoy many good things in life which many others could not
enjoy
4. HOW
SHOULD WE BE CONTENT?
-
By making
a decision to be content
-
By
counting the good things that we are enjoying now which many others do
not have
-
By being
thankful for what we have
-
By
thinking about the less fortunate ones compared to us in many areas of
life
-
By
realizing the fact that we may never be content no matter what we
have, because we will always have some need or a problem
-
By having
a positive attitude in life in the situation we are in, no matter how
bad it might be
-
Be being
satisfied just the way we are and with what we have, since many others
do not even have what we have
-
Be being
happy for the good things we have even though we may lack many things
-
By
enjoying what we are blessed with
-
By
counting the blessings that we have had in the past and expecting more
blessing to have in the future
5. CONCLUSION
Contentment is
an attitude. If we are not contented just the way we are and with
what we have, we will never be satisfied because it is a negative
attitude, which we all are liable to have regardless of our present
condition. There will always be something to grumble or complain
about, no matter how rich, healthy and blessed we are!
