THE MINISTRY OF JESUS IN
SAMARIA
Samaria was a Historically significant Town. This land
was given by Jacob to his son Joseph, which was also called Sychar.
A Well called Jacob's Well was there in that City. The Pharisees
were aware of the Ministry of Jesus, which had greater impact than
that of John. When Jesus saw the Well, he stopped there, while a
Samaritan Woman was drawing water from it. Jesus asked her to give
Him some water to drink, since he was tired and thirsty. She was
surprised over the fact that a Jew asked a Samaritan Woman for water, as
they were looked down upon during those days. Jesus told her that,
if she had known who He was, she would have asked Him for water, and He
would have given her Living Water. The Woman of Samaria was
fascinated by the Drink that Jesus offered to her and asked for it, even
though she did not fully comprehend the fact that Jesus was referring to
Salvation and Eternal Life.
THE ENCOUNTER
THAT THE WOMAN OF SAMARIA HAD WITH JESUS
At this Juncture,
suddenly Jesus asked her to call her Husband. She was really shocked
to hear this because she had not just one Husband, but five husbands, and
then she said that He (Jesus) must be a Prophet, because He seemed to know
her background through Divine Revelation. When she continued on by
saying whom she worshipped and where, Jesus said that even though the
Salvation was for the Jews, a time was coming when the true worshippers
can always worship God in Truth and in Spirit, because our God is a
Spirit. The Woman of Samaria said that she knew that when the
Messiah comes, He will tell all things.
