JESUS MET WITH HIS
DISCIPLES IN A GARDEN NEAR BROOK CEDRON BEFORE HE WAS ARRESTED:
At that time, Simon Peter who had a sword drew it, smote the high priest's servant, and cut off his right ear. The servant's name was Malchus. Then said Jesus unto Peter, "Put up thy sword into the sheath: the cup which my Father hath given me, shall I not drink it?" Then the band and the captain and officers of the Jews took Jesus, bound him, and led him away to Annas first; for he was father in law to Caiaphas, who was the high preist. Simon Peter and another disciple followed Jesus. A damsel that kept the door asked Peter, "Art not thou also one of this man's disciples?" He said, "I am not". The high priest then
asked Jesus of his disciples, and of his doctrine. Jesus answered
him saying that he always spoke openly to the world, and taught in the
synagogue, and in the temple, where the Jews were always resort; and that
in secret he has said anything. Further he added, "Why do you ask
me? Ask them which heard me, what I have said unto them: because
they know what I said". Then Annas had sent him bound unto Caiaphas the high preist. When they saw Simon Peter standing and warming himself, they asked him, "Art not thou also one of his disciples?" Peter denied and said, that he was not. One of the servants of the high priest, whose ear was cot off by Peter said, "Did not I see thee in the garden with him?" Peter denied again: and immediately the cock crew. Then led they Jesus from Caiaphas into the hall of judgment. Pilate then went and asked what accusation they brought against Jesus. Then Pilate said unto them, "Take ye him, and judge him according to your law." The Jews said that it was not lawful for them to put any man to death. Then Pilate entered into the judgment hall again, and called Jesus, and said unto him, "Art thou the King of the Jews?" Jesus answered him, "Are you saying this about yourself or did others tell this of me?" THE JUDGMENT OF PILATE Pilate said that his own nation and the chief priests had delivered him to him, and asked "What hast thou done? Jesus answered saying, "My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence." Pilate therefore said unto him, "Art thou a king then?" Jesus answered, "Thou sayest that I am a King. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Everyone that is of the truth heareth my voice." Pilate said unto him, "What is truth?" And when he had said this, he went out again unto the Jews, and said unto them, "I find in him no faul at all" Then he said that it was the custom that he should release unto them one at the passover, asked them if they would like him to release "King of the Jews?" Then they all cried saying, "Not this man, but Barabbas". Now Barabbas was a robber. CONCLUSION We have to know that
Jesus went though suffering and persecution, and finally gave His life to
redeem the sinners and save them from death. The Bible says that the
wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life. The
death of Jesus was not due to a mis-trial, error, enmity, jealousy, hatred
etc. but it was the plan of God. God so loved the world that He gave
His only Son, that whosoever, believeth in Him should not die, but have
eternal life. - THE END - |
