INTRODUCTION
This chapter is also a very significant one, because here, Jesus taught the disciples some practical, spiritual truths that they should follow, and told them specifically some of the events that were going to happen in the future, and particularly the fact, that he would be leaving to be with the Father, while at the same time, He would be sending the Holy Spirit to be with them. II. SUMMARY Jesus Christ was preaching and teaching to the people in various places. The important truths that he taught can be summarized as follows:
Thomas, one of the disciples of Jesus Christ, was always curious to know many things concerning Jesus and his Kingdom. He remarked to Jesus as to how he can know where he was going and how we can figure out the way to get there. Then Jesus answered him saying, "I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man comes unto the Father, but by me". Further he added that if he had known him, then he would have known his Father also and said that since he had come to know him personally, he has also known the Father, because he was in the Father and his Father was in him. Then Philip, another disciple of Jesus, entered into a conversation with Jesus. Philip said, it will be sufficient and he will be satisfied if Jesus could show him the Father. Even though you have been with me for so long, you have not understood that if you have seen me, then you have seen the Father. Don't you believe that the Father is in me, and the words that I speak unto you are not that I speak, but these are the words of my Father. You have to believe that the Father is in me, at least for the sake of the works that are wrought by me. Further Jesus told Philip that He would give another comforter, the Holy Spirit, who shall abide with him and others forever. The world will not receive the Holy Spirit because they can not see him, even though the fact is that he will dwell in everyone and work though them, if they would believe and obey the commandments of God. Judas (not Iscariot) made a remark saying, why he would manifest himself to them and not the world. Jesus responded by saying that if a man would love him, he will keep his words: and his Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him. The comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto. Then Jesus said, "Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world gives, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid" Then Jesus said, if he goes away, he will come unto them again and further added, that they should only be happy that he was going away, because he was going to his Father, who was greater than Him.
