Daily Meditation -  BIBLE STUDY

I. INTRODUCTION
Jesus realized that it was time to leave his disciples and go to his Father.  Therefore, he wanted to demonstrated his love to the disciples to the very end.  After they had the supper, Satan prompted Judas Iscariot to betray Jesus. 

II. CONTENT

After the Supper, Jesus poured some water in a basin, took a towel and started washing the feet of Jesus and wiping the water from their feet with the towel.  When Jesus came to Simon Peter, he would not let him wash his feet.  Then Jesus said that if he would not let him wash his feet, then Peter would not have any part with him.  Then he responded by saying, in that case do not wash my feet only, but wash my hands and head also.  Then Jesus said that he was only setting an example to them as to how they should treat and serve one another. 

Then Jesus said, He that receives whosoever I send, receives me, and he that receives me, receives him that sent me.  Then Jesus was troubled in His Spirit and said, that one of them will betray him.  Then Simon Peter asked Jesus who that was person was. 

Jesus answered that whomsoever he would give a sop, when He was dipped it.  When he had dipped the sop, he gave it to Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon.  Then said Jesus unto him, Do quickly what you are going to do. 

After receiving the sop, Judas went immediately out: and it was night.  Then Jesus said that He was going to be glorified, and where He was going to go, no one could come.  Jesus gave them a new commandment which was, To love one another, as He had loved them.  Further He added that in so doing all men shall know that they were His disciples. 

The Simon Peter asked Jesus, where He was going.  Jesus said that they could not follow Him where He went, but they will meet Him later.  He also added that He was going to lay down His life for their sake.  Jesus challenged them by saying if they would lay down their life for His sake? Then He said that before the cock crows, they will deny Him thrice. 

III. CONCLUSION

Jesus not only demonstrated His love for His disciples but to the whole world, by dying on the cross of Calvary. 

In return for this act of great sacrifice, He only told the disciples to love each other as He loved them.  

Later on Jesus said that People will know that they were the disciples of Jesus by their love !
